In the market for fleas

Category: ShoppingWillyFourEyes @ 12:06 pm

There’s something about being able to go to a flea market on an almost perfectly sunny day that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Today I hit the Upper Darby High School with my family for the heck of it. The school usually has a lot of tables around because the parking lot outside the school is so big. With so many people clamoring to buy things, parking spaces were in short supply, and today was no exception. I didn’t spend much time out there, because I like to walk through the parking lot quickly and search for books and video games as I go along. I came out of there with quite a catch:

  • Spartan: Total Warrior (PS2 game)
  • The CSS Anthology: 101 Essential Tips, Tricks & Hacks (programming book)
  • Integrated HTML and CSS (programming book)
  • Learning Perl (programming book)
  • Ruby on Rails for Dummies (programming book)

Now, most of the books won’t be very useful to me right away, because I’ve been out of practice with my programming and web development lately. I’ve always wondered how to make applications with Perl and Ruby, and I’m already somewhat experienced with HTML and CSS, so I might be able to make some really kick-ass things with it…maybe even spice up this blog. As for Spartan…I’ll just have to hold out on playing it until my sister gets back, because she took the PS2 away.
