Now I think they’ve just given up
I woke up at about 4:30 this morning to prepare myself for work and get my daily dose of Cowboy Bebop on Adult Swim. I went to turn on the television in my living room, which had been turned to MTV before we all went to bed. To my surprise, the network was airing an old episode of America’s Next Top Model. I thought this was especially weird, because not only does this have nothing to do with music (I’m learning to expect this from MTV more and more nowadays), but it’s not even an MTV show! Yes, I know that both MTV and the CW network are owned by Viacom, but still…couldn’t they have shoehorned some back episodes of Laguna Beach or My Super Speshul Sweet 16 (or whatever that dumb show’s called) into an early-morning time slot?
After I saw that, I decided to flip through the TV guide special for the day’s line-up. Top Model, Top Mode, Made, more Top Model, Gamekillers…not a single hour of music videos until…4:30 A.M. Monday?! Now they’re just not trying. Why even bother holding a music award show if you’re only going to devote fifteen hours per week to actual music programming?
No, wait…considering the train wreck that was this year’s awards, it would probably be an improvement.
