Well, would you look at that? 6-0 Philadelphia, 7-4 Florida. That puts the team with the redundant name in sole possession of first place in the NL East. Another finish like tonight, and it’s playoff time. Mmm…delicious.

…to see the Phillies surging and the Mets floundering late in the season, for once. There are only three games left in the season to determine playoff spots, and both teams are tied for the lead in the National League (no playoffs for you, Braves fans!) The Phils draw the lowly Washington Nationals this weekend, while the Mets take on the lowlier Marlins. I don’t like to use the word “spoiler” when it comes to sports, but I’m rooting for the Phils and Marlins to win out this weekend, if only to stop the sports writers from whining about “another opportunity lost.” If the Phils lose, it doesn’t affect me that much, but I would like to see a few victories. I just hope the bullpen will hold up good enough.
