Remember that April Fools’ Day hoax in EGM magazine that said Sonic and Tails could be unlocked as playable characters in Super Smash Bros. Melee? Man, some folks will believe anything.

And remember when Sega announced that they’d be teaming up with Mario to create an Olympics-based game? Wait…that actually happened? Nah…even that seemed too outlandish, yet still kinda plausible in a way.

And then there’s the news that the blue guy is going to be part of the Super Smash Bros. Brawl roster. Impossible, you still say. That’s practically a Nintendo staple, and Nintendo and Sega have been rivals for years.

O RLY?

Yeah, it looks like it’s actually going to happen this time. Seeing as how the last few console-based Sonic games have flopped harder than a killer whale falling out of a helicopter, His Speediness could use some positive pub right about now. I can already hear the Nintendo fanboys crying “foul”, but I’m still kinda relaxed. Besides, the instant I heard that Solid Snake was joining, I realized that anything really is possible.
