Success is scary, and shipping is serious business
WARNING: This is going to be a long post, so sit back and get some popcorn or Cheetos or something.
It’s been more than three years since I’ve posted anything to Fanfiction.net (a.k.a. the “Pit of Voles”). The last thing I started was a Street Fighter story centered around everyone’s favorite joke character, Dan Hibiki. I got a few positive reviews out of the story, but I couldn’t drive myself to continue writing, because I started it on a whim and didn’t know where to go with it. It’s been sitting there on the Pit for a while now.
Imagine my surprise when the first chapter of my Mai-HiME-related story paced the click count of my Street Fighter fic within twelve hours after uploading it. To put things in perspective, “One Wonderful April” had 112 hits when I checked it at 8 AM this morning. That’s a rough average of 200 hits per day. My old story “The Legendary Three” only had 85 hits.
