Code Geass - Episode 4 - The Loneliest Number
Let’s see…the first episode of Code Geass was a good start, while the second one built on that momentum and allowed Lelouch to kick ass in his own little way. Episode 3 didn’t have much of anything, so I could only give that one three stars…but it looks like episode number 4 (”His Name Is Zero”) is picking up again, with the debut of Lelouch’s mask-and-caped alter-ego, Zero. (I just hope we don’t go into “Star Trek movie syndrome” here, where only the even-numbered episodes are really good.) That boy’s a gutsy one, if anything. I think he even managed to pull a Laharl in this episode…utterly humiliating his opponent and giving him a nickname that sticks. I can just hear the conversation around the Britannian palace now: “Who gives a damn about you? Your new name is…’Orange-kun’.” Oh, Jeremiah Gottwald’s pride…we hardly knew ye.
I give this episode five stars…one for Lelouch, three for Zero, and one for nobody actually dying in this episode. Check out the recap right here.
