Sonic Boo?

Today’s trip to the flea market in Upper Darby gave me the opportunity to expand my Wii library, if ever only so slightly. The only game I saw there that tickled my fancy was Sonic and the Secret Rings, since my library is lacking for third-party Wii titles at the moment. Odd how most of Sonic’s good games appear to be popping up on its former competitor’s systems lately (we don’t talk about Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis on GBA). I’m not sure how long it’ll take me to get used to steering Sonic like a car, but at least in this game, the camera appears to actually want to cooperate with me instead of causing my untimely death over and over again.

It worked

So, everything worked out well today. Sadly, my boss and I were the only ones who showed up, because everybody else in the department planned to use up a bit of their remaining vacation time. My workload was unbelievably light, so the boss let me go home early…that’s when I went out to do some shopping (Lucky Star Vol. 1 and Mai-Otome Vol. 6 Get!), and get myself a haircut.

You mean it didn’t work?

Maaaan…the one day I was looking forward to going into work, and the data system is broken for four whole hours after I arrive. Maybe things will work out better tomorrow.

Masochism Monday

Man…Etrian Odyssey is a pain in my rear. I had to go nuts and level-grind my way up to level 15 to defeat the first true boss of the dungeon. To illustrate how hard this one is: My party of five members had an average of about 90 HP between them. The boss I fought (Fenrir) had 1200, and really tough defense, too. Unlike other games, where it’s just you against the Big Bad Boss, there are other just-as-tough monsters that can jump into the middle of battle to take its side. I don’t get the luxury of reinforcements, and had to rely on baiting the boss away from its minions to have an inkling of a chance of survival. Not fun.

Hey, it actually works

So I got Firefox 3 yesterday, and the darn thing’s stopped crashing on my computer. I was worried I would have to go back to 2.0.0.14 if something happened to make my browser inoperable. I also keep Opera 9.5 handy, just in case I have to re-download the old version. One of the things I like about the new browser is the improvements made to the location bar. I can now type parts of names of sites I’ve bookmarked so I can jump straight to them, instead of typing out long-ass web addresses. It’ll certainly save me some time surfing, that’s for sure. Now, I just need to get used to using that.
