But that would make it too easy

When it comes to coupling my need to bring up my fictional character’s strength with making progress in the storyline (by completing a major quest), this usually means taking a long slog across the map to get from point A to point B, killing anything I come across all the way. With maps as big as the ones in FFXI, you’ll need a ride to get around in a reasonable amount of time. Unfortunately, the minimum required level to ride a Chocobo in FFXI is 20…

Putting the FUN in FUNimation

Over the last two weeks, I’d been browsing FUNimation’s streaming video website looking for something new to watch (partially because I’ve watched almost everything in my collection, and partially because I like free stuff). After browsing through the site and watching a few “first episodes”, I’ve hand-picked five shows that I’ve found to be worth my time and/or money. (Your mileage will vary, of course.)

Light reading on your way to Gallia

A LiveJournal user known as techiegoat posted a great Valkyria Chronicles short story entitled “Birth of a Ballad”. It’s a piece where Noce (the Alicia-loving, Welkin-hating scout) and Homer (the terminally-ill-yet-strong-enough-to-serve engineer) bond over a song that pops up in Noce’s head after they first introduce themselves. I don’t use Noce or Homer a lot because I don’t have them on my team yet, but this story does a good job of capturing how Noce and Homer might behave if they actually got a chance to talk in-game. (Besides, Homer’s lonely and needs some friends, anyway.)

Snow falls, everybody stays home.

Funny (and incredibly stupid) story…last night, I told my mom that I couldn’t afford to take many days off because my department at work was so small. This morning, I wake up, and find out that almost all of the area schools were closed due to bad road conditions caused by last night’s winter storm. Bad news for me, but good news for my PC, because it gets to partake in some extended World of Warcraft action.

If only days had 48 hours

One of these days, I’m going to have to get around to playing and finishing the lot of video games that I have stored away…if only to justify the large amount of money my brother and I have collectively spent on them over the years. Right now, I’ve only managed to make a mini-schedule for myself (no more than one hour per night) regarding the MMORPGs I have on my computer. It’s small, but at least it’s a start.
