I’ve got the Blaz Blues

Today’s addition to my video game collection is Blaz Blue, a 2D fighting game that is totally not Guilty Gear, but inspired heavily by it. I’ve given it a successful test run (in other words, I didn’t want to return it after playing it for 45 minutes), but I’m going to try and spend time playing with characters other than Noel “Big Guns” Vermillion and Litchi “Boobie Lady” Faye-Ling. For the time being, it looks like I’ll have to do all of my practice offline, as not a single opponent I’ve tried to connect wanted to play against me. Must be that spillover reputation I’ve got from playing Street Fighter IV and sucking horribly at it…

Animal Crossing is currently closed

I’ve officially been away from Animal Crossing: City Folk for over two weeks now…partially out of a conscious desire to play other games, and because I’ve been too lazy to get back in. The last time my sister returned to the game after not playing it for a while (it was her 17th birthday present, and I’ve seen her play it a total of three times in the two months we’ve had it), her character got a serious case of bed-head. I hope that doesn’t happen to my character…that takes a lot of money to fix at the barber shop.

Thoughtspam

* So, three days after losing Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson, we’ve learned that infomercial pitchman Billy Mays died in his home today. I doubt this is going to get half the media coverage that Jackson’s death has (and likely will have for the next few days), but when my brother told me about it, he was in shock.
* At the flea market in Upper Darby today, I managed to score both parts of Kill Bill, the first eight episodes of Cyborg 009 (an anime series about a multinational team of cyborg that reminds me a bit of Astro Boy), and a few PlayStation 2 games, including Silent Hill 3 and Primal (the latter seems to be pretty cutscene-heavy in the first part of the game…I’ll see how that pans out as I play it). I wasn’t able to get any super-duper bargains this time around, but I’ll take what I can get.

Which one would YOU choose?

And now, back to Island of Happiness…

When we last left our hero, he was trying to decide between Julia and Natalie as his bride. Now that he has both girls at the highest heart level (red), it’s all a matter of picking one to receive the famed Blue Feather. Unfortunately, even with a heart level at red in this game, there’s no guarantee that she’ll say yes (I tried twice with Natalie, once right after bringing her into the red, and then again a week later, and she said “she wasn’t ready” both times). I have the “wife’s bed” in my house, and that’s usually the clincher. I wonder if I have to make another upgrade to it, like putting in a bathroom?

The weekend couldn’t come soon enough

After a few back-to-back days of depressing news, I’m ready to get my weekend kick-started with something exciting. I’ve been rather unsuccessful in tracking down Rune Factory: Frontier, which leads me to believe that it had a very limited printing run. I wanted to see/play the game for myself…the videos posted on YouTube make the game look brilliant, so I’m intrigued as to why I can’t find it anywhere! Maybe I’ll have to go back to Amazon.com…or eBay. That’ll have to wait until my next paycheck comes in.
