And that’s how you defend a tower

My Life as a Darklord, a kinda-sorta sequel to My Life as a King, came out on Monday, and I’d been waiting excitedly for about a month after I beat the previous game. I now see what the heck Square Enix was trying to do by turning the “tower defense” sub-genre of strategy games on its head. Instead of placing towers/soldiers/whatever along a set path, you actually construct your tower and fill it with monsters and traps and such, hoping that the heroes don’t make it to the top floor. So far, I only have weak Goblins by my side, and I’m hoping to work my way up to Scorpions, Flan, and those lovable-yet-deadly Tonberries. Those Black Mages can be a bitch early on, since they can wipe out a group of Goblins with ease with their magic.
