Do I look like a waiter?

Square Enix threw us Final Fantasy lovers a bone with a short demo/tutorial for its upcoming crossover fighting game Dissidia: Final Fantasy (why the name of the series is subtitled, I’ll probably never understand). Five characters were playable in the demo – the Onion Knight from Final Fantasy III, Cecil from Final Fantasy IV, Terra from Final Fantasy VI, and Cloud and Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII. Everyone gets to go through four battles (three against Cosmos-side characters like Cecil, Terra and Cloud; and a fourth against a Chaos-side character like Sephiroth or Golbez from Final Fantasy IV) where the player learns some of the basic mechanics of the game – jumping, counters, wall running…the cool stuff.
Personally, I liked the demo all-around. I’ve heard some complaints about Terra being changed from the “magic knight”-type character she was in her own game into a near-pure magic user in Dissidia. I suppose the change makes sense in context, since she’s an Esper, and Espers are the living embodiment of magic in the setting of that game. Seeing the spells she uses in combat made me wonder…where the hell was all that magic when I played the game?
That said, if I get a chance to play through the game as the Chaos-side characters, I’ll probably have the easiest time going through it with Sephiroth, since his Masamune has insane speed and reach. I’d hate to be the unlucky bastard who has to go into a boss fight against him…
…oh. Sh–
