RMNF by the numbers 2009

We’ve reached the end of a tumultuous 2009. It was a bit of a lean year for me writing-wise, but I managed to get reacquainted with my video game collection, and knocked a few of my current titles out of the park (Pokemon Ranger 2, welcome to the 100% club!) Site traffic was down overall [...]

So it shall be written, so it shall be done

All right…never mind shelling out hundreds of dollars of equipment to put together a Let’s Play video. I’ve decided to do what’s called a “liveblog”, where I select a game and document my progress through it (in text) from start to bloody finish. I’m going to give myself no more than two hours out of every day so that I have enough time to document everything, because, you know…work. The first unfortunate victim for this experiment, should I manage to get my hands on her at launch time, will be Bayonetta (I was impressed enough by the demo to buy it and give it a shot). If I can’t do that, then it’ll be Demon’s Souls, because I’m a masochist like that.

That Duke boy’s got himself into a pickle again

Damn it…it’s almost 2010, one year away from the end of the decade…so why are we still prattling on about Duke Nukem Forever? That was announced, what…12 years ago?

King of Fighters XII: Pretender to the throne

Since 1994, the King of Fighters series has been SNK’s marquee franchise – a massive crossover fighting game using characters from many of its older series such as Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, Ikari Warriors, and even Psycho Soldier (where Athena and Kensou made their debuts). 15 years later, the series introduces itself to the PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 generation with The King of Fighters XII, which sets out to redefine the franchise to appeal both to newcomers and long-time fans. Does it succeed? Short answer: not really.

Billy Corgan I ain’t

More Rock Band 2 goodness tonight. I played a little bit of the game with two of my cousins, and we got to test out the drum kit. I still struggle a bit on Hard, so I may tone it down to Medium when going solo to give my feet and arms a rest.
