Following the heels of last week’s iMPACT, with Tommy Dreamer talking about all the blood and sweat he spilled in the original ECW (presumably leaving most of his tears in the iMPACT Zone), the “ECW Originals” – Dreamer, Rhyno, Stevie Richards, Raven (who now looks like a cross between Sting and Sandman), Mick Foley and Brother D-Von – start the night gathered together in the ring, branding themselves “EV 2.0″ (E-V-Dub…ahahaha, I get it).

Before the Stanley Cup Finals started, I predicted that the Chicago Blackhawks would defeat my hometown Philadelphia Flyers in six games. So far, the home team has won every game in the series – the ‘Hawks won the first two in Chicago, and then the Flyers clawed back to even the series with two wins in Philly. On Sunday night, Chicago pretty much dominated the Flyers, putting them within one win of their first Stanley Cup in decades. If this is going to happen (and my prediction being proven wrong), Philly has to win tonight at home. Since there’s maintenance a-goin’ on on the PlayStation Network tonight (locking me out of Joe Danger and 3D Dot Game Heroes until Sony finishes fixing up whatever it is they’re trying to fix up), I’m going to watch tonight’s game intensely and hope that there’ll be a game 7 to decide it all.

So it looks like Jay Leno’s going to get his Tonight Show slot back (or at least his 11:35 PM time slot) after NBC decided to cancel the 10 PM show they had given him due to poor ratings. This means that Conan O’Brien, who inherited The Tonight Show after Jay left it last year, is going to be leaving the network (and taking $45 million with him). There’s also that matter of all of the programming they’re going to have to renew since they cut out everything at 10 PM to make way for Jay’s show. As much as I am amused by following one of NBC’s biggest PR disasters since the XFL, they’re going to have to do a lot of work to get back on a lot of viewers’ good sides (including this one) after this scenario.
See you in 2011, NBC.

Between the aftermath of the earthquake that recently devastated the Caribbean nation of Haiti, and the “clusterzuck” going on in the late night television circuit this week, I had to step back and take a few deep breaths. Otherwise, I would likely have ended up posting something I would have regretted doing later.

According to this announcement via Anime News Network, Adult Swim has announced that they’ve lost the broadcasting rights to Blood+ and Death Note, but in a commercial bumper last Monday night, hinted that it was “just clearing house for goodies from [their] last Tokyo Visit”, and that there may be three new series in the works. Some posters have speculated that two of those series are most likely to be Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and InuYasha: The Final Act, since their original series were consistent ratings-getters when they first aired on [AS] (and I think InuYasha’s been in perpetual reruns since it was first broadcast). As for the third? No one knows for sure, but I’m seeing suggestions from Soul Eater (the first English-language DVDs come out in February) to D.Gray-man (it’s certainly sufficiently “dark” enough) to Black Lagoon and Desert Punk (ditto, but they’d have to blank-censor the F-bombs in order for it to air at all).
