“Where were you?” Alice asked as she gave Marisa an uncharacteristically cold stare. “You promised me that we would go out and enjoy a few days together in the forest.”

“Well, I’m sorry,” replied Marisa. “I was asked by that vampire girl to bring Patchouli’s medicine to the Scarlet Devil Mansion.”

“That was three days ago!” Alice huffed.

By the look on her face, Marisa knew that a chaste kiss on Alice’s cheek was out of the question. She instead laid a hand on Alice’s shoulder in an attempt to try and sweet-talk her way out of a beating. “I tried to come back as quickly as possible, because I always look forward to days when we can just relax together. You know I could never break a promise for you.”

Alice cracked a faint smile. “All right, Marisa…I forgive you. You’d better not be lying this time, or else.”
