Izuna, the bouncy, barely-dressed and perpetual job-hunting ninja is on the prowl once again. After diving through randomized dungeons and staring down angry gods in her own game series, and moonlighting as a ninja-for-hire in Rondo of Swords, she’s found herself (and her partner Shino) among the dramatis personae of a fighting game called Windy [...]

Say what you will about Ubisoft’s handling of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles licensed games since they took over for Konami around 2007, but you have to admit that the green guys are still marketable after years of comics, films, animated series, action figures, and even video games. The time around, Ubi and Game Arts have brought PlayStation 2 and Wii owners a new kind of beat-em-up in the vein of the Super Smash Bros. series (which Game Arts assisted in development), which seems to take most of its aspects from the 2007 film and the 2003 cartoon.

You knew it was coming: the inevitable Street Fighter IV micro-update. Super Street Fighter IV is coming to PlayStation 3′s and Xbox 360′s sometime in Spring 2010, and it looks like some old favorites are going to be rejoining the fray. I don’t really know yet what’s so “super” about this new incarnation of the Street Fighter series, but there’s a lot of buzz over the returning characters. So far, we’ve heard that Guy and Cody from Final Fight are going to be added to the roster, as are missing Super Street Fighter II characters Dee Jay and T. Hawk and Adon from the original Street Fighter. There’s also a new character, a Korean chick named Juri, but there’s not enough info on her for me to get worked up about.

They actually allowed a Fate/stay night video game to make it to the United States. Considering that every other entry in the series has only been released in Japan up until now, color me shocked. And yet, I still have a vague idea of who some of these characters are, thanks to extensive TV Troping. Fate/unlimited codes cost me $29.99 to buy, more than the average downloadable PSP game, but so far, I think this might be worthwhile enough to justify the price. I’ve beaten Arcade Mode with two characters so far (Saber and Archer), but still have about twelve more to go before I’m able to unlock the three secret characters.

Today’s addition to my video game collection is Blaz Blue, a 2D fighting game that is totally not Guilty Gear, but inspired heavily by it. I’ve given it a successful test run (in other words, I didn’t want to return it after playing it for 45 minutes), but I’m going to try and spend time playing with characters other than Noel “Big Guns” Vermillion and Litchi “Boobie Lady” Faye-Ling. For the time being, it looks like I’ll have to do all of my practice offline, as not a single opponent I’ve tried to connect wanted to play against me. Must be that spillover reputation I’ve got from playing Street Fighter IV and sucking horribly at it…
