Windy X Windam: Izuna and Shino should really find a new agent

Izuna, the bouncy, barely-dressed and perpetual job-hunting ninja is on the prowl once again. After diving through randomized dungeons and staring down angry gods in her own game series, and moonlighting as a ninja-for-hire in Rondo of Swords, she’s found herself (and her partner Shino) among the dramatis personae of a fighting game called Windy [...]

Great, now I gotta work with Wario?

After a week of waiting, my Nintendo DS copy of WarioWare D.I.Y. arrived in the mail. Before you can actually get into the act of making your own games, you start out by playing a batch from Mona’s collection. After one sampling, you’ve gotta go through Game D.I.Y. 101 to learn about the scripting language from the series’ resident pre-teen genius, Penny Crygor, with explanations so simple, even Wario can understand it (when he decides to pay attention).

Random bits and bytes, spring break 2010 edition

WarioWare D.I.Y. is coming out on the Nintendo DS this weekend. While there are much fewer packed-in microgames this time as opposed to previous iterations (D.I.Y. has about 90 compared to Smooth Moves’ 180), the hook in this version is that you get to design your own. When I get my copy, I plan to make something involving Kirby (that is, if 9-Volt doesn’t beat me to it).

That doesn’t sound like any anime series I’ve ever seen

Talk about false advertising. Graffiti Entertainment’s press release for a Nintendo DS fighting game called Windy X Windam states that it’s based off a Japanese anime series (note how it doesn’t specify which one), but all reports that I’ve looked up say that it isn’t, especially since it also lists Izuna and Shino (both from Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja fame) as unlockable playable characters. The game was originally scheduled for a January 12 release date (the same day that Sands of Destruction came out), but one or two other sites have said that it’s actually going to be released on March 2.

Rockin’ Pretty: Shining on at amateur hour

Girls rock, too, right? Such is the mindset behind Aksys Games and Arc System Works’ music game Rockin’ Pretty for the Nintendo DS (well, that and apparently “Guilty Gear and BlazBlue aren’t the only things we can do!”)
