Halfway there, Pearl edition

I suppose now would be a bad time to get complacent, even though I finally earned my fourth Sinnoh gym badge for the second time in Pokemon Pearl. It helped that after walking around with my Budew for goodness-knows how long, it finally evolved into a Roselia. Wake’s level-30 Floatzel is no match for a powered-up Roselia armed with Giga Drain and Magical Leaf. I managed to beat all three before he could use a Hyper Potion on any of them. With this new badge, I can now safely utilize the Riolu I had transferred over from Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia.

They’re so cute when they’re young and legendary

The Manaphy egg that I got in Pokémon Ranger finally hatched in my Pokémon Pearl game. The bad news is that all newborn Pokémon start out at level 1 after hatching. The good news is that his stats seem to grow pretty quickly for a low-level Pokémon. It’ll be a while before tihs Manaphy is going to replace my Prinplup as my default Water Pokémon, but I’d probably do it anyway just to say that “I have a Legendary on my team.”

Pokemon Sapphire and Pearl

Why write for a fandom for which I haven’t paid any attention to the video games in several months? Easy. Some fanfic ideas just keep gnawing at your head and just won’t go away until you’ve written them down. Mine just happened to involve May and Dawn from Pokémon. I had originally envisioned this fanfic called Pretty Picture with Misty in Dawn’s place, but I couldn’t think of a good scenario for them to be in. One of my LiveJournal friends dug it, and suggested that I expand on it. I may start getting to work on that eventually, but first, I’m going to needan actual idea for framing this chance meeting. *sigh* Back to the drawing board, I suppose.

Pokemon Moving Day

My sister found my old and half-busted Nintendo DS, so I got a chance to transfer my super-special Pokemon from Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia over to my Pokemon Pearl game. The new Riolu starts out at level 30, which means it won’t do anything I ask it to until I pick up two more badges, and the Darkrai is healthy at level 50, and will likely ignore me until I get four more. (Maybe that’s why the final boss lost control of him?) A Manaphy egg came separately.

Gotta catch up to ‘em all

I cracked open Pokemon Pearl again the other day, realizing that I had started a new game over six months ago, but hadn’t picked up on it since beating Roark for my first badge. Today, I beat Gardenia at the Eterna City Gym for badge number two. I felt like a dope for sending in underpowered Pokemon against her Grass-types (mine were around L12-L13) when I realized that the L10 cap only applies to Pokemon acquired in trades (rookie mistake; I’ve been playing Pokemon games since the Red/Blue generation, and should really know better).
